Move over Brooklyn! Ulster County is now home to one of the hippest industrial chic wedding venues you can find anywhere. It’s got bricks. It’s got girders. It’s got vintage lighting. And whole lot more.
Like a garden for your open air ceremony. History too, so much that you’ve got a museum just a few steps away from your reception area. An eclectic record store in the same building (just in case you want to spin your own tunes).
The Senate Garage is the recently opened event space in Kingston’s Stockade District on the corner of North Front Street & Fair. It occupies an old water filter factory that stands adjacent to the historic Senate House (where New York state was established in 1777) and the Senate House Museum.
Owners Don and Judy Tallerman (who also own the internet marketing company Dragonsearch, with offices right upstairs) hired a Woodstock designer to revamp the industrial space as an ultra cool venue for all sorts of events, especially weddings.
Here are some photos from our recent tour to help you get a sense of the space.
The Senate Garage can accommodate up to 450 guests. There is also a full prep kitchen downstairs where caterers can easily do their thing. Audio-visual presentations are a snap too with a video projector and sound system available for use.
For your full wedding weekend extravaganza, the Senate Garage is in close proximity to popular bars and eateries, like the idiosyncratic Stockade Tavern (right across the street) .
As photographers, we really love the warm light, the textures, the sense of grandness about the place. Also the way it combines industrial chic mentality with rustic American history. Top that, Greenpoint!
